The Leveson inquiry what is it about? News of the world was shut down due to a major scandal what was the main issue? They were hacking phones to benefit themselves and get an 'inside scoop' as well as exclusive information about news stories. was the law broken? They hacked phones which broke the law, they hacked subjects of new stories including celebrities, royal family and young kids are theses legal or ethical issues? This was a legal issue as it was taken to court and argued in parliament. It was also an ethical issue as it was a major invasion of privacy. how do you know the difference? A legal issue is when the law is broken whereas ethical issues are morally incorrect. Ethical issue : An issue which isn't breaking the law but is seen as morally wrong by society. Every project needs finance and this comes through streams of revenue. These come with risk, unpredictability and return. (stream- continuous finance) Things that affect the type of finance that can be used/attracted: size of organisation commercial/government Your (my) project needs money. What are your options? Crowdfunding Bank loan Pitch to other production companies Horizontal integration  Family/ friend loans Private investors Sponsorship Advertising Franchising There are different revenue streams, which provide a source of revenue for a media project. Revenue streams= ways for a company to GENERATE revenue income. Sponsorship : payment for band association with the final product. This could include big companies or smaller, local companies. Corporate finance : money injected by business convinced the project is a good investment and will provide a good return over a lengthy period of time. Time constraints

Time constraints. We only had a short amount of time to film many scenes We also had to move around to different locations which took time Writing the script Setting up the location Sourcing the equipment Going through and editing the footage, and sound Time to find and audition actors Producing a media product always has a deadline like any project. If not met, could lead to failure, financial loss. Timescales work in reverse from the ultimate deadline, e.g. the release date of a movie. Within this overall timescale, the project may also have time constraints linked to: Location film set/TV show Studio- recording Equipment (borrowed/rented) Staff like actors/writers (other commitments) Catering/services (budget allows for limited time)

Constraints: factors that limit you or hold you back from reaching your goals.  EXAMPLES: Financial constraints, revenue streams, time constraints, personnel, legal and ethical issue, regulation Financial constraints Staff- you need to employ people to help out with the production of the film Premises- where your company will operate and go to work (costs) Location- the place where you go to shoot the film, getting the permission and location Legal costs- ensuring nothing will cause legal issues, need lawyers and copy rights to avoid lawsuits Transport- transporting the actors, crew, and set around to film Resources- what is needed for the production of the film e.g. cameras Time constraints Final deadlines Interim deadlines Availability of people Availability of equipment Days/hours that people can work Relying on volunteers Personnel Skills- more expensive personnel the more skills someone has Number of people- the more people employed, the more expensive Experience of personnel...

Visualisation diagrams

Visualisation diagrams are sometimes called concept art A drawing created by hand or digitally showing what something will look like when created Used to plan for still images or products Can be a rough sketch or a detailed final design Annotations must explicitly link back to the brief and the target audience Why is a visualisation diagram useful? It allows people to understand the concept of your product and see how it could be created due to the use of labelling, which details the materials used as well as the colours.

Sitemaps, wireframes and visulizations

Sitemaps-   a file where you provide information about the pages, videos, and other files on your site, and the relationships between them. Website architecture, a map of the site.  three main types.  1. those used during planning of a website by designers 2. the sitemap available for viewing online by those visiting a website 3. a structured (coded) list designed for search engines It's important that you properly design a sitemap, if you are asked to produce one.
